Once Upon a Time...

Back in 2009, I was feverishly pounding out a short story on a laptop when my then five year old daughter said, "Daddy, it sounds like elephants stomping on eggshells."

I began writing fiction in college. We had computers, but I liked using antique typewriters. There was something inspiring about firing away at the keys and the cracks that pierced the quiet nights. The life of a laptop writer is a muted existence. The tic tac of plastic doesn't have flair. I often found myself hammering down, sometimes out of habit, sometimes just to hear a sound.

Fortunately for my fragile keys, I'm far too busy to write - or so I keep telling myself - and I'm far too distracted by whatever interest I've found for the moment. I thought this blog might be a way to ignite some creative fires, but it didn't. I abandoned it in February 2009.

In September 2011, I decided to resurrect the elephant. In the year and a half that lapsed, I left my job at the New Albanian Brewing Company, revived the historic Falls City Beer brand, left it behind to start LouisvilleBeer.com, and became the proud owner of a 1967 Ford Econoline van and a 1971 Honda CB350. So, like I said, I'm far too busy to write.

Elephants Stomping On Eggshells is simply a collection of the random, wonderful, brilliant, and unpredictable things I stumble onto as I stagger through life.
